Freedom''The freedom to live without harming others''. The circumstances of today require the concept of freedom to be extended to include this definition. If mankind emitted 36 billion tonnes of CO2 in 2013, around 5 tonnes per capita, twice as much in Austria and Germany and four times as much in the USA, then this cannot remain without consequences. When you buy oil products on the limited oil market oil products, you are driving prices to unimaginable heights 20 years ago. Only a constant price level of around US$ 100 per barrel makes oil shale, deep-sea drilling or Arctic drilling profitable in the first place. The consequences are dramatic for many poorer countries. The oil price trap, trade deficit greater than the value of oil imports.
Today this is associated with great personal sacrifices through saving, restricting and renouncing, or costs with full comfort so much money that one must count to the top 10% in income. Prosperity without harming others is possible for everyone. Much more, prosperity without harming others is the only chance we have of a future worth living.
This kind of freedom was one of the main motivations to write the book "Ascent to the Solar Age" in 1992.
